Almerimar is situated on the coastal plain below the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and enjoys a desert climate with low humidity, warm Winters and no extremes of temperature. 

 
Car Hire
We have used a company called CARJET (use this link) many times and have found them to be very efficient. The booking is done online and you receive confirmation documents by e-mail to pick up your reserved car at your arrival airport.
Flights
The two airports that serve Almerimar are:-  Malaga - 190 Km to the west (allow up to two-and-a-half hours)  and Almeria which is 45 minutes to the east.

Almeria is the most convenient airport for Almerimar.   Before Easy Jet flights started in November 2004 Malaga offered the cheapest flights - but not any more !
Malaga is much larger, has more carriers and more routes in competition so up 'til now has been cheaper. 

EasyJet and Ryannair have daily flights into Almeria so this more convenient destination will offer increasingly competitive prices with good capacity catering for the rapidly growing popularity of this year-round resort.

You can always find bargains and before EasyJet schedules began Almeria seemed to be better served from the Midlands. Things have changed now and bargains are available from airports in the south of England.
